Privacy Policy

The short version: TopDock runs on your PC and talks straight to Gmail, Outlook, X, Reddit and LinkedIn. There's no TopDock server, no TopDock account and no analytics in the app. Your data stays with you.

Who we are

TopDock is a desktop app for Windows 10 and 11, and this website describes it. "We" means the makers of TopDock.

Questions about privacy? Email hello@topdock.app.

What the app does with your data

There is no TopDock server

TopDock doesn't send your messages, contacts, drafts or todos to us. When it checks for new mail or posts, it connects directly from your PC to the platform you connected:

Those companies handle your data under their own privacy policies, as they do when you use their websites.

Sign-ins

You connect each account on the platform's own sign-in page. TopDock never sees or stores your password. What it receives is a sign-in token, which it keeps in Windows Credential Manager, encrypted by Windows for your Windows user account. Tokens are never written to a plain file and never leave your PC except to talk to the platform they belong to.

What's stored on your PC

No analytics, no ads, no tracking

The app has no analytics, no advertising and no tracking. We don't know how often you open it or what you read.

Images in emails

Remote images in emails are blocked until you allow them, because they can be used to tell a sender that you opened their message. When you allow them, the images load from the sender's servers.

Nothing is sent automatically

TopDock never sends an email, reply or post by itself. Everything goes out only when you press Send.

Error reports

If something goes wrong, you can create an error report from Settings, the tray menu or a tile's error. The report leaves out account names, tokens and message content. It's saved or copied on your PC, and it only reaches us if you choose to send it to us.

Updates

To check for updates, TopDock downloads a small file describing the latest version from our release host, currently GitHub Releases, and downloads the update itself when one is available. Like any web request, this lets the host see your IP address and the request. It contains no account or message data.

Google user data

TopDock's use and transfer of information received from Google APIs adheres to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. Gmail data is used only to show, send and manage your mail inside TopDock on your PC. It isn't transferred to us or anyone else, used for advertising, or used to train AI models.

Removing your data

This website

The website (topdock.app) uses Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages help people, but only if you click Accept in the cookie banner. Until then it runs in Google's Consent Mode: nothing is stored on your device and no analytics cookies are set. If you accept, Google Analytics sets cookies named _ga and _ga_* that last up to 14 months. We don't use advertising cookies, and IP addresses are not used for ads.

Your choice is remembered for a year in a cookie called topdock_consent. You can change it any time with Cookie settings at the bottom of every page; choosing Decline removes the Google Analytics cookies.

The website loads the Inter font from Google Fonts, so your browser connects to Google's servers to fetch it. The site is hosted by Vercel, which may keep standard server logs, such as IP addresses, for security and reliability.

None of this applies to the TopDock app on your PC: the app has no analytics at all.

If you email us

If you contact us, we use your email address and message only to reply and help you, and we keep them only as long as needed for that. We don't add you to a mailing list unless you ask.

Your rights

Because TopDock keeps your data on your own PC, you're in control of it: you can see, change or delete it at any time using the steps above. For anything you've sent us directly, such as an email or an error report, you can ask us to show, correct or delete it, and you can complain to your local data protection authority.

Children

TopDock isn't aimed at children under 16.

Changes to this policy

If we change how TopDock handles data, we'll update this page and the date at the top. If a change is significant, for example if TopDock ever started sending data to a server of ours, we'll say so clearly in the app before it happens.
