We make TopDock. What we say about Mailbird is kept general and based on its public website as of October 2026. Mailbird's features, platforms and prices may have changed, so check getmailbird.com for the current details.
The short version
Pick Mailbird if you want one program to do all of your email in: a unified inbox, folders, search, and connections to other apps, in a full window you spend real time in.
Pick TopDock if your email client is fine but you check it (and X, and Reddit) too often. TopDock sits at the top of the screen, shows a badge per inbox, and gets you in and out quickly.

Where Mailbird is the better fit
- You want to replace Outlook or the browser for all your email work, not just checking.
- You rely on folders, saved searches, templates or signatures in one place.
- You like having other productivity apps next to your mail in the same window.
Where TopDock is the better fit
- You keep switching to your email "just to see", and it costs you focus.
- You also check X mentions or Reddit replies through the day.
- You want a short todo list built from your messages, with a link back to each one.
- You prefer an app that stores nothing in the cloud and has no account of its own.
Can you use both?
Yes, and it's a sensible setup. Keep Mailbird (or any client) for the long sessions where you sort and write. Let TopDock handle the dozens of small checks in between. Because TopDock syncs read status and archiving back to Gmail and Outlook, both apps stay in step.
What switching looks like
There's nothing to migrate. TopDock reads your mail straight from Gmail and Outlook, so you connect each account through its official sign-in page and your existing folders, labels and history stay where they are.
